My Story
I entered my profession with a BA in American Studies and an MSW in Social Work, driven by a deep desire to help people of all ages break free from the limitations that restrict their potential.
My certification in Child and Adolescent Development and Gerontology provided me with a broad perspective on life’s challenges and sparked my curiosity: How can I do more than support patients in coping with anxiety and worry? How can I help them transform the emotions that shape their behavior?

Becoming the Expert of You, an invitation to:
-
More effectively communicate for self advocacy and connection to others.
-
Enter uncomfortable situations with confidence.
-
Develop skills to meet goals.
-
Build lifelong skills that support your growth.
-
Become acquainted with tolerating uncertainty and the “not knowing for sure.”
Finding the Answers
I found answers through training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), along with a foundational understanding of neuroscience and the mind-body connection. I refer to this therapeutic approach as “Becoming the Expert of You.” It emphasizes creating an environment of trust, inviting clients to see themselves and the world from new perspectives, and guiding them to reflect and reframe their thoughts to overcome what holds them back.
My Approach
In my approach, I am influenced by creative endeavors which can help access and expand how we feel inside. We might experiment with the use of paint, color, Mindfulness practices, collage, and various forms of writing. All of these can be a welcome addition to CBT/DBT protocols and help support changes in thought patterns and nervous system regulation.
I have found that combining CBT/DBT, mindful self-awareness, and creative expression provides a strong foundation for individuals to develop the insight and tools they need to resolve their challenges in a way that is meaningful to them. When this transformation occurs, it builds confidence and equips them with lifelong skills to navigate future growth and possibility.
Guided by my three word mantra, “I’m still learning.” I endeavor to stay curious and open to seeing life’s experiences from multiple perspectives.

Over the years, when clients are stuck and feel unable to move forward, I encourage them to use their imagination and various creative techniques to express the unexpressable. Together in this playful, non-judgmental environment with guided inquiry, they find new ways to see their world.
